Cab Calloway is an ambitious jazz musician on the rise, determined to make it big as a legendary bandleader. To secure his first major break, he hires a talented female manager named Nettie—a move that doesn’t sit well with his girlfriend, Minnie. As Nettie successfully lands Cab an audition for a prestigious new club, Minnie’s jealousy begins to spiral, fearing she is losing her place to the woman helping Cab succeed.
After a killer audition with his octet, Cab convinces the club owner he can assemble a full orchestra in time for the grand opening. But as the band finds fame and success, the drama intensifies. A spiteful Minnie turns to a local "fix-it" man, Boss Mason, and his dangerous henchman, Mo the Mouse, to sabotage Cab’s relationship with his manager. What started as a quest for musical stardom turns into a fight for survival as Cab Calloway must face off against Boss Mason’s hired gun before the bullets fly.
