In 1782, the young MP William Wilberforce was urged and determined to abolish the slave trade in Great Britain. Despite his unpopularity in the House of Commons, he continued his fight until his health forced him to turn entirely to evangelicalism. Fifteen years later, his marriage to Barbara Spooner, a woman driven by the same sense of justice, encouraged him to resume his fight.
