Story:
An important robbery goes wrong when two young men get in the way of Mexican bandits and an evil, corrupt businessman who want the stolen loot back.

Review:
"The film begins with the familiar scene of Mexican highwaymen robbing an army truck. However, these bandits have backup, as they are seen dividing the loot between themselves and an American partner.

Meanwhile, in the nearby town of Two Arrows, a devious teenager named Loring Vandervelt (Peter Lee Lawrence) is trying to find his way in life. At the same time, a mysterious stranger with a black hat has moved into town (Luis Dávila).

Despite a few shootouts, there isn’t as much violence and trickery as one might expect from a spaghetti western. Instead, the tone of the film is more similar to its American contemporaries than to the deliberately cynical Italian westerns that were being made at the time. The film’s humor varies in quality. Many jokes fall flat, but a few (such as the Mexican general drawing storyboards for his attack plan) are genuinely funny.

The actors all do a good, serviceable job. Lawrence plays the naive but optimistic and charismatic role his character demands, while Luis Dávila is well cast as the laconic loner.

The same goes for the direction and cinematography. The plot moves at a solid pace and offers enough twists and turns to keep things interesting, with a few genuinely surprising moments to shake things up a bit.

The English title, “Death on High Mountain,” is completely nonsensical and does not do the film justice at all.

Finally, there are some pretty unflattering portrayals of Mexicans in this film, even by the standards of the time. The Hispanic gunmen are basically crude, funny caricatures.

Overall, it’s a pretty average film. 6/10" Written by detflygandespaghettimons on IMDb.com
