*What is “Hope Dances” about?*
Hope Douglass is both a ballet dancer and a softball player, excelling in both fields. However, as she grows older, schoolwork, chores, and the realities of everyday life set in. Suddenly, being good at two things isn’t enough when everyone tells her she could be great at one. The dilemma is compounded by her parents’ differing desires: one parent wants her to pursue sports, while the other wants her to focus on dance. Ultimately, Hope must make the tough decision herself: choose sports and possibly disappoint her mom, or choose dance and crush her dad’s dreams for her. Hope is fortunate to have supportive friends, though challenges arise when one becomes a competitor and another is so supportive that she is willing to step aside for Hope’s success. Will Hope make the right choice, or will she find a way to balance both passions? In the end, Hope must decide for herself whether to "dance" around her problems or "swing for the fences" and stay true to her dreams, learning to trust in herself.
