Director’s Statement:
Ridley Scott once said: “If you can’t thrive on stress don’t do it. Stress for me is being inactive. If I’m working and it’s coming in every direction I’m completely relaxed.” Those words echoed in my head when writer David Scullion first told me about Stop Dead — a horror built on one simple, terrifying truth: you stop, you die.
Born from my own fear of stopping — especially when Covid shut down production in 2020 — this film became a fight to keep moving, to create something dark, suspenseful and unforgettable. Influenced by Lynch, Kubrick, and the new wave of horror from Jordan Peele and Ari Aster, Stop Dead is more than scares: it’s a metaphor for the relentless grind of modern life and the question we all face — are we truly free, or trapped on a never-ending road?
