A very special live arrangement of ‘one last thing you never said’, taken from Leaving Laurel’s sophomore album ‘when the quiet comes’, shot in Gordon’s hometown of Halifax.
"Since our time in Laurel Canyon, there’s always been a sense of separation in Leaving Laurel.
Pierce and I always lived in different cities, and eventually different countries. The same is true for Griff and I now.
With the second album done, it was time to start exploring what was next for me musically, and I started looking in my hometown.
I started jamming with my friends Ben and David in the north end of Halifax where I live.
We would never plan ahead what we were playing – we would just pick a time, choose some instruments and start improvising.
But this gave me an idea – what if we did plan ahead, and tried a rendition of a Leaving Laurel song?
There’s not much guitar in Leaving Laurel songs, but it’s the instrument I know the best. Ben is a brilliant piano player, and David is capable of magic with any instrument he touches.
There was no rehearsal beforehand – we just listened to “one last thing you never said”, turned on the cameras and started playing.
