In the town of Bell’s Point, Oregon, residents are terrorized by a recent wave of violent lightning storms causing fires, power blackouts and disrupting communications. Valery Landis, a university expert in electrical storms notices similar patterns in storm activity throughout the world, and deduces the weather has been caused by a level of sunspots the Earth has not seen for over 2 million years. 2003
She also discovers this global lightning phenomenon will quickly intensify and merge into a single planetary super-storm… one powerful enough to usher the world into in a new Ice Age.
When she devises a plan to generate an electromagnetic wave that would temporarily reverse the Earth’s polarity and negate the electrical storms, she is met by resistance from experts and politicians who deem the plan too risky.
