A race against time in the heart of Washington, D.C.! When a British secret agent carrying a vital piece of top-secret World War II microfilm vanishes on a train bound for the United States, the British Government immediately calls upon Sherlock Holmes (played by Basil Rathbone) and Dr. John H. Watson (played by Nigel Bruce). Knowing the document contains critical wartime intelligence that could fall into the hands of ruthless enemy operatives, Holmes and Watson cross the Atlantic to track down the missing agent. Holmes quickly realizes the agent managed to hide the microfilm inside a common matchbook before he was murdered.
