Robespierre, a formidable figure in the French Revolution and the subsequent Reign of Terror, is urgently searching for his black book—a death list containing the names marked by him for the guillotine—as well as a key to aid in his eventual rise as the country’s dictator. He fervently hopes that his agents will recover it, as if it falls into the wrong hands, it could spell his political downfall and death.
