*What is “The Ring of the Nibelungs” about?*
Siegfried, a blacksmith, meets Queen Brunhild of Iceland in a meteorite crater and defeats her in an axe duel. They fall in love, and she vows to wait for him. Siegfried forges a sword from the meteorite’s ore, slays a dragon, bathes in its blood to become invincible, and claims the Treasure of the Nibelungen. He also defeats the dwarf Alberich, gaining a magic helmet that lets him change form. Later, Kriemhild gives Siegfried a love potion, making him forget Brunhild and fall for her. To marry Kriemhild, Siegfried agrees to help her brother, King Gunther, win Brunhild by impersonating him with the magic helmet. Siegfried defeats Brunhild, and she agrees to marry Gunther.
