*What is “When Duty Calls” about?*
Newlyweds Ellie (Daniella Monet – “Victorious”) and Martin (Kelly Blatz – “Glory Daze”) have both reached roadblocks in their careers. Ellie is unable to get placed at the local police department, while Martin is an unemployed teacher, and their financial struggle has forced them to move back in with Ellie’s parents, Gary and Carol.
Ellie volunteers at the local police department in the hope of getting hired, and there she encounters a number of criminal offenses against the elderly. But, she is unable to take action as she’s only an unarmed volunteer.
The strain on their marriage is heightened when Martin is offered a teaching job in Maine. Ellie tells him to take it and she will join him if she can’t find a job locally. In an effort to help, Martin joins Ellie in her hunt for the criminals. But things go awry when they’re captured and thrown into the trunk of the criminals’ car. Luckily, Gary is there to save them.
Ellie’s brave actions land her a position at the police department and Martin is offered a local teaching job. They are now able to move into their own home and start a family just as they always dreamed.
